Join The Food Movement

The Central Okanagan Community Food Bank is asking you to ‘Join the Food Movement.’ A movement inspired by Canadian geese.

By flying in ‘V’ formation, geese can cover three times the distance than they could on their own. This is also true for people who decide to work together, which is what the movement is, a group of people working together to advance their shared ideas.

Geese symbolize what the campaign is about. Although feeding hungry people is key, Join the Food Movement is about more than just food relief. It’s a grass roots food security movement. It’s about people supporting local groups and collaborating on gleaning, cooking and community garden projects. It can also be about people eating local and supporting Valley farms and growers.

The issue of hunger is so complex, it requires Collective Action – a unifying vision – that’s the Spirit in which we move forward.
