Those living in Kelowna are asked to please use our Kelowna branch.

Families and individuals in need of assistance may apply for support if they meet the below requirements.

  • 3 months proof of residency in Kelowna (rent receipts, utility bills, Driver’s License)
  • Proof of current address (rent receipts, utility bills, etc.)
  • Source of income for all adults on file (E.I., Social Assist., Disability, Pension, Student Loans, pay stub)
  • ID. for all adults over 18 years (SIN#, BC Care Card, BCID or Driver’s License, Student ID)
  • ID. for all children (Birth Certificate or BC Care Card)

Client Programs & Services

At the Central Okanagan Food Bank, Kelowna location, we offer a wide range of Nutrition Improvement Programs to best meet your nutritional needs, including:

Tiny Bundles: This program is specially designed to meet the nutritional needs of pregnant mothers and families with children under the age of one. Participants are eligible for a weekly hamper containing milk, eggs, fresh fruits, vegetables and baby basics. Mothers also receive a one-time layette, containing new baby items, when the baby is born. Additionally, public health nurses are available at the Food Bank twice per month to answer any questions new moms may have. Please note that a Doctor’s Note is required for proof of pregnancy.

Vitality Program: This program is for families with children age 15years and younger and for clients who are older than 55. This program ensures that participants receive adequate nutrition as outlined in Canada’s Food Guide, including milk, eggs, meat and fresh produce.

Special Needs Program: This program supports the needs of clients who have special dietary or medical requirements including persons with diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, HIV/AIDS, severe food allergies and eating disorders. Please note that a Doctor’s Note is required for proof of medical condition.

Kids Snack Pack Program: This program provides children from ages one to 12 years with a one week supply of ready-to eat, healthy, nutritious (age appropriate) snacks to take to pre-school, day care or school. These snack packs include (but are not limited to) fresh fruit, cello-packaged fresh produce, yogurt, cheese, 100% fruit juice boxes and healthy granola bars.

Other Important Client Information

  • You can access the Food Bank once per month with at least 30 days between visits. You are responsible to keep track of the date you last visited
  • Identification is required for EACH VISIT
  • Clients cannot “bank” days. If a month is missed, clients cannot receive an extra hamper for the month they missed
  • We cannot give client information over the telephone due to privacy laws
  • Client’s files will be updated 2 times per year, in February and August
