DESCRIPTION:Join Us for the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive: A Community Effort to Fight Hunger! \nThe BC Thanksgiving Food Drive is more than just a food collection event—it’s a chance for our community to come together and support local food banks across British Columbia\, including the Central Okanagan Food Bank. Since its humble beginnings in 2008\, this initiative has grown into a province-wide effort\, with volunteers from over 100 communities pitching in to make a difference. In 2024\, we’re excited to be part of this incredible event once again! \nHere’s how you can get involved and help make a real impact: \nHow You Can Participate:\n\nReceived a Donation Food Bag? Great! Fill it with nutritious\, non-perishable food items (think healthy\, with minimal added sugar\, salt\, or unhealthy fats) and leave it on your porch by 9 AM on Saturday\, September 21. Our volunteers will swing by to collect it!\nDidn’t get a Donation Food Bag this year? No worries! You can still drop off non-perishable food items at your nearest Save-On-Foods on Thursday\, September 19\, or directly at the Central Okanagan Food Bank (Kelowna or West Kelowna) anytime we’re open.\n\nAnother Way to Help: Monetary Donations\nMonetary donations are a powerful way to support the Food Bank. By pooling donations\, we can purchase items in bulk through our strong partnerships with local stores—allowing us to stretch every dollar further. In fact\, for every $1 donated\, we can provide $3 worth of food to those in need! \nWith the holiday season just around the corner\, your financial support is especially important. It allows us to provide essential food items to families facing increased challenges this time of year. \nLet’s come together as a community and make this year’s BC Thanksgiving Food Drive the most successful one yet. Your contributions—whether food or financial—go a long way in supporting our neighbours and ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food during the holidays and beyond. \nClick Here to Make a Monetary Donation and provide someone with a warm\, holiday meal. \nThank you for being a part of this important effort!
