5 Ways to Support the Central Okanagan Food Bank

5 Ways to Support the Central Okanagan Food Bank

Helping your community can be easier than you may think.

Providing food aid to 12,000 individuals each month is no small feat – and it’s only together as a community that we can support those facing food insecurity. There are many ways to support COFB, including volunteering, donating, and advocating for a hunger-free community.

  • Make a Food Donation
Non-perishable food items are always in demand at COFB. Food donations can be dropped off to our West Kelowna and Kelowna locations. Many local grocery stores will have donation bins on-site to think of us while you shop. We have a most needed item list that is updated frequently here

  • Make a Monetary Donation
Monetary donations allow us to multiply your impact. Through partnerships with food retailers, every $1 donated can translate into up to $3 worth of food! Monetary donations can be made directly through our website, mailed, phoned, e-transferred or dropped off at our Kelowna and West Kelowna locations. All donations over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt.

  • Volunteer Your Time
Volunteers are the heartbeat of COFB. From sorting food in our warehouse, assisting clients, or helping at events, we rely on the support of our amazing volunteers. Whether you can volunteer once every few months, or a couple of times a week – every bit of donated time is appreciated and helpful. Volunteering is also a great way to meet and connect with others! Opportunities are available for individuals, families, and corporate or community groups in both Kelowna and West Kelowna. Apply to volunteer here

  • Host a Food Drive
Organizing a food drive or fundraiser is a powerful way to bring people together in support. Whether at your workplace, school, or neighbourhood, food drives help raise awareness while collecting much-needed donations. Plus, they are fun! Create a goal, plan out a theme, and bring together your community. COFB has tools available to help make your fundraiser a success here.

  • Spread Awareness
Not everyone has the means to donate or volunteer time, but a free and very helpful way to support is through advocacy! Read about the work we do, share our pages on social media, talk to your community about us, or attend an event. Raising awareness helps ensure those who need support know where to find it – and more community members understand what THEY can do to help.

Supporting COFB does not require a grand gesture. Whether you donate, volunteer, organize an event, or share information, your support helps create a stronger, more caring community. Together, we can ensure that no one has to face hunger alone.
