  • Client FAQ's

Registered clients are provided with reliable, nutritious food hampers every 28 days, which are designed to provide 7-9 days’ worth of fresh, frozen, and pantry items. This allows neighbours facing food insecurity to direct financial resources to other vital living expenses such as rent, utility bills, and medication.

The Central Okanagan Food Bank recognizes that not all residents have the same dietary needs, and that a portion of our community have medically diagnosed health problems that may require specialty diets. Clients with diagnosed dietary needs receive specialized foods containing low sugar, high protein, or gluten free options. Please let us know when you arrive and our volunteers will do their best to meet your dietary needs.

While we are not guaranteed to have pet food, we do sometimes have it available by donation. Due to shortage of supply, we will provide these to clients by request only.

Our Monthly Hamper appointments are offered every 4 weeks, or 28 days. When you arrive for your monthly hamper appointment, you will automatically receive a new appointment for the following month. If you cannot make an appointment, you are welcome to call our Reception Office at 250-763-7161 to cancel or reschedule, so another client may take your place.

Tiny Bundles appointments, however, are offered weekly on Friday mornings, from 9:30AM-11:00AM. Those who are pregnant or have new children (up to 1 year old) are eligible for our Tiny Bundles Program. Please CLICK HERE for more information or Contact Us to book an appointment. Hard of hearing? Send us an email.

At this time, only eligible clients with mobility issues may register with our partner Hands in Service to receive home delivery. Deliveries take place on Thursdays and must be coordinated with both agencies.

If you are walking, we have a seating area available while you wait for your hamper. We can often provide bags instead of boxes, but it can be helpful to bring a buggy or your own bags, as supplies are limited. Many clients prefer to arrive with friends or family or may arrive by taxi or bus. You may also have a family member, friend, or case worker pick-up on your behalf.

We are committed to a community where no one goes hungry, and this includes our houseless neighbors. We provide food support to approximately 20 outreach agencies and through them we can extend our reach and serve those who are the most vulnerable in our community.

Unfortunately, we do not offer banked visits. Our clients are encouraged to visit on a monthly basis if they require assistance. If you are in need of emergency food assistance, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
