FARM TO TABLE WITH A PURPOSE
Growing to Give
The Okanagan Valley is renowned for its unique agricultural landscape and vibrant farming community. Each year, organic and traditional farmers alike cultivate a bounty that reflects the Okanagan’s rich soil and favorable climate. Yet, despite the abundance, accessing fresh produce remains a challenge for many.
Here, your generosity can bridge the gap. By donating surplus produce, you’re not only sharing the fruits of your labor but nourishing those in need with essential nutrients. Each donation not only fills empty stomachs but also contributes to the health and well-being of your neighbors. When you grow to give, you help sow the seeds of a healthier community!
Why Participate?
1. Help the Community
Your donations provide fresh produce to families and individuals who may not have access to healthy food options.
2. Reduce Food Waste
By donating surplus or cosmetically imperfect produce, you help reduce food waste, one of the most impactful ways to reduce greenhouse gases!
3. Benefit from the BC Farmers Tax Credit
The BC Farmers Tax Credit allows you to claim a credit for the value of the produce you donate. This means you can support your community while also receiving a financial benefit!
Getting involved is easy:
When you bring your donation to the Central Okanagan Food Bank, let us know you’d like a Gift-in-Kind Tax Receipt.
Once the donation has been weighed and processed, we will email or mail your tax donation receipt.
We are happy to issue Yearly Receipts for our regular donors!
