Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the COFB is set to launch its new Community Kitchen at the end of this month. Tito’s has contributed $60,000 USD, which will be instrumental in bringing this project to life and furthering COFB’s mission to nourish and empower the community.
This inspiring partnership started when a Tito’s Handmade Vodka employee, vacationing in the Okanagan last year, witnessed the incredible efforts of the COFB during the McDougall Creek fire. Moved by the food bank’s pivotal role in supporting those affected by the fire, the employee nominated COFB for support through “Love, Tito’s,” the philanthropic initiative of Tito’s Handmade Vodka. This program helps small to medium-sized non-profits scale their impact, grow programs, and pilot new initiatives, allowing them to dream bigger.
With the sponsorship from Love, Tito’s, COFB is excited to introduce two major initiatives: the Farm-to-Table and Cross-Cultural Program and the purchase of an industrial soup maker. The Farm-To-Table program is an educational cooking class designed to bring the Okanagan community together in a celebration of diversity and sustainability. It aims to champion sustainable farming practices, promote food justice, and foster cultural exchange, all while contributing to a healthier planet. This program will empower community members by teaching them to embrace self-sufficiency and forge lasting connections through enriching experiences.
The industrial soup maker, another significant addition funded by Tito’s, will repurpose aging perishable foods collected through COFB’s Food Rescue Program and Partner Farms into highly nutritious soups. With the capacity to produce 800 meals in one batch, this equipment will dramatically enhance our ability to provide wholesome food to our community’s most vulnerable members.
This sponsorship from Love, Tito’s is a game-changer for the Central Okanagan Food Bank. It enables us to continue nourishing and empowering community members, ensuring that everyone has access to healthy, sustainable, and culturally diverse meals.
Together, we’re making a difference, one meal at a time!
