The Central Okanagan Food Bank is here to help struggling families and seniors enjoy the holiday season. Our focus is on providing essential needs and something special to unwrap during the holidays.

The Merry Moments Program (previously called Sponsor a Family) spreads holiday cheer by connecting Holiday Helpers with families and seniors in need.

Other Ways to Help this Holiday

We understand that not everyone may be able to provide for an entire household this holiday season, but there are still many ways to spread some warmth and joy to those in need! Here are a few other ways you can make a difference:

• Specialty Items: Consider donating specialty items like teas, coffees, hot chocolate, or other treats. These small comforts can make a big difference for families during the holidays.
• Handmade Warmth: If you’re crafty, we’d love to receive cozy baby hats, scarves for seniors, or warm socks. Handmade items bring a special touch of care.
• Gift Cards: A gift card to places like Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Save On Foods, or other local grocery stores can give families the opportunity to treat themselves or purchase essentials.
• New or Unused Gifts: Do you have new or gently used items or gifts that have been sitting in your home? These could be just what someone else needs or would love to receive!
• Store Owners: If you own a business and have overstock, last year’s Christmas items, or other products you’re ready to move on from, we would be thrilled to accept those too!
• Monetary Donations: A financial contribution, no matter the size, helps us purchase items in greatest need and ensures every family has a brighter holiday season.
