Donation FAQ's
The Central Okanagan Food Bank is a non-government funded, non-profit organization which relies on public donations and corporate partnerships, as well as public and private grants. Please click here for more information about Our Supporters.
The Central Okanagan Food Bank prides itself on ensuring that the largest possible amount of donations will be used to directly support people affected by food insecurity. We operate with 15 staff members spread over two locations and rely on over 30 volunteers per day to help us in our cause to fight hunger.
As a result, our administrative and fundraising costs are some of the lowest in Canada. 96 cents from each dollar donated to the Central Okanagan Food Bank goes toward Food & Programming.
One-time donation receipts are automatically emailed to the email address provided. If the cumulative receipt option has been selected, one receipt for the year will be emailed in January.

Most donations to Food Banks are ‘non-perishable’ such as canned or dried foods. While important staples, they just can’t provide the full nutritional balance needed – particularly for babies and children in their developing years or seniors with special dietary needs.
For every $1 donated, the Central Okanagan Food Bank can provide up to $3 worth of food. We are able to stretch our donor dollar further than the average shopper due to our partnerships with local, provincial, and national food retail chains, as well as through our Perishable Food Recovery Program.
While many people find donating online to be more secure and convenient than other methods, we can also accept Credit Card donations by phone or drop-in. However, there are many other ways to give a gift of support to the Central Okanagan Food Bank. Please click here to learn more.
Please contact us to request a copy of your receipt. Please provide us with your full name and mailing address, as well as the amount and method of the donation.
Please note that cumulative receipts for monthly donations are sent in January of each year.
Please Contact Us. Please provide us with your full name and mailing address, as well as the amount of the donation, to ensure your request will be handled as quickly as possible.
Donations can be dropped off at either of our two locations. To view our locations and hours of operation, please click here.
In addition, many local grocery stores have a Central Okanagan Food Bank donation bin located at the entrance or exit doors, for those who wish to donate while shopping.

We are committed to a community where no one goes hungry, and this includes our houseless neighbors. We provide food support to approximately 20 street level outreach agencies and through them we can extend our reach and serve those who are the most vulnerable in our community.
