World Food Day 2023

Every year on October 16th, the world observes World Food Day, a global event dedicated to raising awareness about food security and tackling the pressing issue of hunger worldwide. This day offers an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing our planet in terms of food production, distribution, and consumption. It also serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure that every person has access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.Ā

In our community, we are steadfast in our mission to ensure that those facing food insecurity have equitable access to nourishment. How do we accomplish this? By partnering with community-minded farmers, individuals, social agencies, and corporations.Ā Ā

Our growing list of partners now includes Mitsubishi, a company committed to ā€Driving Healthy Changeā€ this World Food Day. They are taking action by raising funds for local food banks, including our very own Central Okanagan Food Bank. Mitsubishiā€™s dedication to addressing food insecurity in our community is a shining example of how businesses can make a positive impact.Ā

But the power to create change doesnā€™t stop with corporations. You too can be a part of the solution!Ā Here are some ways individuals can help:Ā

Donate!

Make a donation, small or large, to support the Central Okanagan Food Bankā€™s vital work in the community.Ā

Volunteer!

Offer your time and energy as a volunteer to help sort, pack, or distribute food to those in need.Ā

Support Sustainable Practices!

Choose to support businesses and brands that actively combat food waste and contribute surplus food to food banks.Ā Ā

Spread Awareness!

Use your voice and your social media platform to raise awareness about food insecurity in your community.
Advocate for policies that address food security and poverty. Write your local representatives and make your voice heard.
Share this blog post and encourage others to join the cause!

Remember, every action, no matter how small, makes a difference. Together, we can ensure that everyone in our community has access to the nourishment they need.Ā Ā

Join us in making a positive impact on World Food Day 2023!Ā
